What is a glove box? A glovebox, is a sealed container that is designed to allow one to manipulate objects while being in a different atmosphere from the object. Built into the sides of the glovebox are two gloves arranged in such a way that one can place his or her hands into the gloves and be able to perform tasks inside the box.
After years of research and development we discovered that this new design works more efficiently and is easier to use. The new glovebox has a filtration unit made from a 85 CFM computer fan, synthetic filter discs and polyfill. The powerful fan sucks air through the filter material and inside the Glovebox creating a more sterile environment to perform such tasks as inoculating substrates, grain to grain or culture transfers, agar work and many more.
A simple, effective and affordable glovebox
We include extra filtration material with your Glovebox as it can be replaced easily. Just unscrew the filter box from the inside, pull away the polyfill and replace. Pull the filter disc off and replace with glue or silicone. It would also be a good idea to wipe down any exposed areas of the fans with some bleach/water solution.
The Glovebox comes with 2 full-arm length Aqua Gloves. Unlike our previous model, the gloves are NOT ATTACHED to this box. We found that when you place your arms in the box all the way up to the biceps, the holes generally are covered completely. Even when the holes weren’t completely covered, the amount of positive air flow coming from inside of the box was enough to ward off contaminates from entering.
The glove box doubles as an excellent
way to dry any type of mushrooms.
The Glovebox can also be a very effective drying chamber. Just place your fresh mushrooms onto a perforated surface inside the box and turn on the fan. 12-24 hours later you have dried mushrooms ready for storage or consumption.
So do I need a glove box
? what are the advantages of using one?
You do not always need a glove box. If your confident in your skills
and have a clean working environment than you will probably be ok.
But if your serious about mycology like we are then this is an affordable
way to acquire an important piece of equipment.
The glove box will increase your
chances of success when inoculating substrate
/ grain jars with your favorite spore
strain. It also provides a fast and consistent drying chamber for your fruited mushrooms. Sterility is a main factor when learning
/ experimenting with mycology so if you can afford to get one, we
recommend it.
